What is this site?

Holla! I am Cian, you might have seen me around, you might not have, doesn't really matter to be honest. What does matter though is that I am currently a competing fencer, a fencing club executive (at MQU Fencing), and a school coach at Barker College. I want to be as transparent as possible about why this website was made, essentially, working in schools and clubs I would often be asked when competitions where and as there is no current central calendar, I figured I'd put my one web design unit I took 6 years ago to good use and make my own. I wanted a website where I could point parents and newer fencers to that would have the information they would need to find competitions. And just to re-clarrify, this is a non-official project.

Of course, I benefit in other ways as well from a calendar being accessible, I am one of the team members who run the Sydney Intervarsity Fencing League (SIFL) and I oversee organising competitions at MQU Fencing. Needless to say, both these parties’ benefit from more eyes on the competition scene. At the same time, my big big goal is simply to break down the barriers of entry to enjoying this sport. I’ve tried to do it through running MQU Fencing, the creation of SIFL, introducing Epee at Barker College, and now I will continue to try to do it with this calendar.

This is a community led project and as much as I would love to be omniscient of all the happenings of fencing events on in NSW I can’t. So, if you know of any events you’d like to see here please fill out the google form below:
